This is the former FBI director who spelled out "8647" with seashells, and got flack for it since some took it as a death threat. Given that tons of people want Trump dead, and people tried to kill him, they had to take this seriously.
To be fair though I am torn: I have a hard time believing that this was intended to be a death threat. It was likely more meant as "throw him away". One can say it was unprofessional, sure; but if I had a dollar every time a current or former FBI agent was "unprofessional", I could just buy the J. Edgar Hoover building and turn it into a mancave. I'd rename it the "Robert P. Hanssen Memorial Building", just to piss off whoever had me flagged.
