Doxes and BOTB should be made so that only members can view them.

Why?

1) It encourages people to join and interact with the forum (more activity, which a brand new, developing forum needs). Once the person joins, they gain access to BOTB, which leads to a better impression of the server and makes them more likely to be retained.

2) It keeps BOTB and really useful information less available to normies and lurkers

3) A less negative association with the forum. .net is currently seen as “the dox forum” (something @St.greypiller , @Kaligula , and several other users have wanted to limit/remove). Making them member only would also lead to an increase in users.

If we want this forum to grow, we need to get rid of the stigma and the fear of being doxed simply for joining.

Who would want to join a forum knowing that they’ll get doxed if they say anything that offends the staff or owners?

Alr good idea imo, maybe it can be implemented if greypiller likes it
As a bonus, it’ll reduce the risk of attention from feds. Yes, .net is less likely to be compromised due to the offshore hosting, but it’s still not zero. It’s in our best interest imo.

When org was on the news, reporters would talk about whatever they saw just from lurking. If someone sees a massive list of doxes upon opening the server, it’s a huge risk. Even if the site is not shut down, the coverage will lead to an influx of retarded tiktokcels, which will make us no better than org.

this does sound like a good idea but the issue is if we restrict doxxes then nobody will be interested in our forum because most people came here solely for the doxxes.

Hence the member only access. Once they make an account, they’ll immediately gain access.

Just specify that somewhere for nonmembers or something

i suppose i can do a kiwifarms style thing where the dox itself is only viewable to members but the thread is viewable for everyone

That is true I came here because of the doxxes. How about before doxing you make a vote to dox or not dox. Of course most people would vote dox but the users will feel like the doxing is in there control encouraging more people to join while keeping the doxxing.

Push for opsec in the server

Every man's for themselves, so why not teach people? I guess this is more community based change than a suggestion

Why should people be restricted to consensus?

If it's extreme or against children, it's not allowed, simple principle

i fixed the spoiler issue so now only members can view spoilers

Good

Like kiwifarms
exactly i feel like this will help us gain more members, i was too lazy to make another spoiler class for members only (and i dont want to rape the template) so all spoilers now are members only
